A Celebration Surrounded by Icons
On International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), Red Bull Racing opened its Milton Keynes campus to host an unforgettable event celebrating women in engineering, leadership, and motorsport. The setting couldn’t have been more spectacular with panels and activities held in a room surrounded by some of Red Bull’s most iconic Formula 1 cars. Attendees were able to step right up, explore the machines up close, and feel immersed in the team’s racing history.
Learning from Leaders: Hannah Schmitz and Beyond
One of the event’s highlights was a series of panels featuring female leaders at Red Bull, who shared their personal journeys into engineering and spoke about their current roles within the organisation. Among the standout voices was Hannah Schmitz, Principal Strategy Engineer, who gave an inside perspective on the intensity, precision, and resilience required in one of F1’s most demanding jobs.
In a surprise addition, the stage also welcomed the three Red Bull F1 Academy drivers, who inspired the audience with their determination and fresh perspective on carving a path in motorsport. Their presence highlighted the importance of investing in the next generation of women drivers alongside engineers.

Exclusive Opportunities for Attendees
Beyond listening to stories, attendees had the chance to directly connect with Red Bull professionals through 1:1 CV review sessions, an invaluable opportunity to receive tailored feedback and advice on entering or progressing within motorsport careers.
The day also included a personalised tour of Red Bull Racing’s factory, offering a rare glimpse into the cutting-edge processes that power the team’s success on track.
Unexpected Moments and New Leadership
The event was full of surprises, not least the first public appearance of Laurent Mekies since his arrival as Red Bull Racing’s new Team Principal. His presence underscored the significance of the day and Red Bull’s commitment to inclusion and fresh perspectives at all levels of leadership.

Driven By Us Joins the Celebration
Driven By Us proudly hosted a designated space at the event, where we connected with attendees, shared our mission, and built relationships with individuals eager to see more diversity in motorsport. It was an opportunity to show how grassroots community efforts and major organisations can work together to change the face of engineering and racing.

Building Together: A Giant Lego Mosaic
The day wasn’t just about listening and learning. It was also about creating something together. Every participant received a small Lego base and a colour-coded template, which they filled in with bricks. Each base became one tiny piece of a much larger mosaic which when completed, the collaborative artwork revealed a striking image of a Formula 1 car.
This playful, collective activity was symbolic: just like the mosaic, the future of motorsport is built piece by piece, contribution by contribution.

A Drive for Change
This event formed part of Red Bull Racing’s Drive for Change initiative, delivered in partnership with Rokt Global. Its aim is to open doors, increase visibility, and champion opportunities for women in engineering and motorsport at every level.
By combining inspiring role models, practical career support, and community-building activities, the INWED celebration became more than an event. It was a powerful statement of intent for the future.
Looking Ahead
The day left attendees buzzing with energy, ideas, and ambition. Surrounded by legendary cars, inspired by leaders like Hannah Schmitz and the F1 Academy drivers, and connected through shared experiences, it was a reminder of what’s possible when motorsport opens its doors wider.
Driven By Us is proud to have been part of this journey and we’re excited to keep driving change, alongside Red Bull Racing and partners who share our vision for an inclusive motorsport future.
